Emotional disorder is a condition exhibiting 1 or more of the following characteristics over a long period of time and to a marked degree

1. An inability to learn that cannot be explained by intellectual, sensory or health factors
2. Inability to build or maintain satisfactory interpersonal relationships with peers and teachers
3. Inappropriate type of behaviour or feeling under normal circumstances
4. A general pervasive mood of unhappiness or depression
5. A tendency to develop physical symptoms or fears associated with personal and school problems.Some characteristics & behaviours seen in children are
A. Hyperactivity( short attention span, impulsive)ness
B. Aggression/ self injury(fighting, acting out)
C. Withdrawal(excessive fear or anxiety)
D. Immature behaviour(inappropriate crying, temper tantrums, poor coping skills)
E. Learning difficulty(academic performance below grade level)
