1- AUTISM is not a disease but it’s an absence of NORMAL DEVELOPMENT ( DEVELOPMENTAL DEVIATION ).
2– Prevalence of AUTISM is increasing due to increased awareness among parents and increased sensitisation of Pediatricians ( 1:44 to 1:66 )
3.Its not a speech problem so there is no role of speech therapy.
4. It’s not due to loss of any acquired skill so there is no role of occupational therapy
5- Basic problem is ANXIETY due to underlying poor understanding
6– 10 to 20 percent children with AUTISM WITHOUT ANY CO-MORBIDITY outgrow without any treatment.
7– AUTISM IS A CLINICAL DIAGNOSIS
8– There is no role of STEM CELL THERAPY, HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY OR DIETARY RESTRICTIONS in the treatment of AUTISM
9- DEVELOPMENTAL APPLIED BEHAVIOUR THERAPY is the gold standard of treatment for AUTISM
10- – Ultimate aim of EARLY INTERVENTION for AUTISM is REDUCTION OF ANXIETY BY IMPROVING UNDERSTANDING so that these children could join main stream of schools.
